This article was all over the place in my usual haunts on the web. So I thought I'd chime in and spread the word too.
Over in the Doom9 forums, one of its users discovered the crack for HD-DVD DRM and posted it. This was in the beginning of February. This may also work for BluRay DRM.

Here is my reply to him:
HD-DVD means High Definition DVD... better picture quality than regular DVD's. All HD-DVD's and BluRay (BluRay is the HD-DVD competitor) are copy protected so they can't be copied.
Someone cracked the copy protection so whoever has the crack code and a computer program that copies HD-DVD's can now copy them without worrying about the copy protection.
Basically if you buy an HD-DVD movie you technically do not own it. You are licensing it for personal use. What happens if your disk gets scratched or damaged or stolen? Shouldn't you be able to make a backup copy? How is an HD-DVD different than a cassette tape? We used to make mixed tapes right? And then let our friends copy them. Did that cause the music industry to crash and burn?
Those are some of the arguments for DRM (Digital Rights Management) FREE music and movies. The movie and music industry want DRM because they think they are losing sales because of it. Read my next blog for longer discussion regarding this.
